Scheme of seed qualification in Hungary

The Hungarian Central Agricultural Office, Directorate of Crop Production and Horticulture is the authority responsible for seed qualification and covering three fields, such as plant variety testing, being inspectorate of propagating materials for forestry and horticulture, as well as of seeds. The article finishes with informing on field inspection, seed qualification and post-control scheme.


Sunflower stocks quickly running out

It turns out from the paper of the author from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute that the volume of global sunflower production for the 2009/2010 economic year is estimated to 30.8 million tons, a figure by 10 lower than the amount harvested the previous season. The use of sunflower seeds considerably increased in the last quarter of 2009, the stocks decreased, therefore global sunflower oil production tends to be lower in 2010. The processes are duly reflected in the prices: sunflower seed and products made from them are likely to have higher prices in the first part of year 2010.

Agronomic conditions influencing the safety of sunflower production
