An important criterion of including new sugar beet varieties in the national list, in addition to sugar yields (t/ha), is the disease resistance of variety candidates. The authors draw the attention to this, by publishing the results for 2011 of trials carried out by the National Food Chain Safety Agency (NÉBIH) to test varietal resistance to rhizomania and cercospora leaf spot.

Väderstad Kft. celebrated a double jubilee at its headquarters in Kápolnásnyék on 15 June 2012. The event marked the 15th anniversary of the foundation and the 50th anniversary of the parent company Väderstad-Verken AB. The question is obvious: what kind of results can be expected from the technology shift offered by Väderstad machines? The convincing answers were given again in the talk of the university professor and head of department, dr. Márta Birkás of Szent István University and by certain growers she addressed the question to. The article summarises the most important conclusions of the meeting.
